A 365 day art project… one drawing a day
I’m going to try again. I can do better. I think.

My art for yesterday and today is simple and fun. I was helping my daughter create some coloring pages for her primary grade French classes. They’ll choose a house style, then color and cut out little bits to use with it, and hopefully learn the French vocabulary as well. Some of these ideas came from images we searched, but we needed them independent of their buildings etc. Now I’m wondering if I should add lines to the glass to look like reflective surfaces? (But maybe the kids can use their imaginations. Or maybe there’s just no glass in those windows!)
Oops I just realized I added a little hedge after I took this picture. It was vertical anyway, beside the window and lamppost, so you wouldn’t have recognized it as a hedge, but as a tall rectangular flowering bush, I think!
I got this idea from Bored Panda’s page.
(even the idea to look up Bored Panda didn’t really come from me: I had decided to do a little piece of art for a swap, and the person I’m sending too said she likes whimsical little houses. I googled whimsical little houses and up popped Bored Panda!) I don’t want to send it away now. I see some places to improve though, so I’ll get over it!
This one is for Kathy… a rather messy sketch of a Hilton Village house in Newport News, VA, USA. Who could resist loving this adorable little house? You should see the inside. Hilton has got to be one of the sweetest neighborhoods in the world.

Love these stormy clouds.

Another Peter Sheeler tutorial. 🙂

Is this the most adorable thing yet?? And “Iraville” on youtube is too cute. And talented. Her stuff is difficult for me but I love trying. I’m having considerable trouble controlling the masking fluid, in particular.

I followed two more tutorials… one offered some basic tree hints (which I expected I’d already know, but didn’t. I don’t know why I thought I WOULD) the other is another typical wheeler scene, and showed me I’m way too impatient and heavy handed. Watercolor takes patience. Bleh. Still, it came out cute. Of the two, which one do you like better?
