Day 134 (sun 5/14) moonlit dragonfly

Master’s Touch 4×6 watercolor pad 140 lb cold press, staedtler pen, tombow markers, (N65, N95, N45), uniball white pigment pen. On the back I’ll use my postcard stamp and it will be all ready to send on its way!

Day 130 (Wed 5/10) pen & ink peacock

This is the type of thing I’ve worked on most frequently the past several years. Kind of zentangle-ish… relaxing.  I plan to try more of these to put in my Etsy store.

I don’t usually add color, unless I’ve drawn it onto a book page, then I generally add some vague color around the edges, but I might give this one a little watercolor later today. I used the Stillman & Birns mixed media book and Staedtler waterproof pens, pictured. (And the Copic for the border, but then changed my mind.)

Day 108 (Tues April 18) Easter sketch

My very own art!! No tutorial. Ellis on an Easter egg hunt. Here, her poor little face got messed up when I inked it. But I figured it out later. There were several things I learned from this one that I’ll do differently next time, so it was a good project!

Day 80: (Tues 3/21) watercolor sketches

Two more Sheeler tutorials. Testing craftamo brushes.

Strathmore 400 5.5×8 watercolor journal, M Graham paints ultramarine, hansa yellow, Daniel Smith Sepia.

I like them both. But…I love this one….

Day 79: (Mon 3/20) watercolor houses

“Jelly Bean Row” in Newfoundland. From one of Peter Sheeler’s tutorials, but this time I didn’t even watch his tutorial, just used his reference photo.

Strathmore 400 5.5 x8 watercolor journal.  M Graham watercolor paints ultramarine, hansa, quinacridone rose, scarlet pyrrole, Daniel Smith sepia. Testing Craftamo brushes.

Day 78: (Sunday 3/19) watercolor sketches

So the past few days I have been a painting monster, really! I have so many things. I haven’t decided how to post them yet. I’ll keep working every day, but some of my posts may include things from this past week as well. I’m going to start with two tutorials from Peter Sheeler. Laundry. Mundane, right? But so sweet.

Day 77: (sat 3/18) watercolor line drawing using two colors

Another of Peter Sheeler’s sketches. Too often I overwork parts. I like these studies with only two or three colors. I’m hoping to fill my sketchbook quickly because I’ve already found the next book I want to try! Art is all about shopping for me, apparently.

Day 76: (fri 3/17) Happy St Patrick’s Day!

I couldn’t get my pen to load with ink, which doesn’t explain my sad letter spacing, but kind of explains the distraction I exhibit. Celebrate (or don’t) however you love today, with those whom you love most! And don’t forget to wear your green!

Day 72:(mon 3/13) watercolor, pen and ink sketch

Followed a Sheeler tutorial called “pen and ink sketching on painted paper adding white highlights.” Which pretty much says it all. I painted the paper, I drew the sketch, I added white ink highlights. It DOESN’T say, however, that I had my day numbers all messed up all week! So had to go back and adjust them all. (Had you noticed?)
