Day 170 (Mon 6/19) Inky Cow sketch

I tried out some Noodler’s Heart of Darkness ink in a fountain pen they include with the bottle on a sort of zentangle-y cow sketch. I ordered it because I thought it was waterproof, or mostly waterproof, and was going to add color… but you can see what happened when I touched water to it. I’ll try letting some dry overnight and see if it still reacts the same way. I like the result, but I wanted a fountain pen I could use for my watercolor sketches. Oh well, back to Staedtler and uniball. They are great, so it’s all good. I just wanted to play around with line width a bit.

Day 169 (Sun 6/18) Ink and Watercolor Zentangles

Completely uninspired, and tired, I didn’t feel like ‘arting’ today. But I did, and just finished before midnight. There’s nothing inspiring here, except perhaps the idea that I did it anyway.

It felt cold and remote without the background, but some bright blue added a little depth and connection. Now… go do that thing you don’t feel like doing.

Day 130 (Wed 5/10) pen & ink peacock

This is the type of thing I’ve worked on most frequently the past several years. Kind of zentangle-ish… relaxing.  I plan to try more of these to put in my Etsy store.

I don’t usually add color, unless I’ve drawn it onto a book page, then I generally add some vague color around the edges, but I might give this one a little watercolor later today. I used the Stillman & Birns mixed media book and Staedtler waterproof pens, pictured. (And the Copic for the border, but then changed my mind.)

Day 44: (Monday)a zentangley peacock

I don’t exactly “zentangle“, but I do like to draw these sort of zentangled pictures. We are on a business trip but I won’t let that stall my threesixfive project. (Plus I love my art supplies like they are children. Almost. So brought a bunch with me. A mini travel version of my studio.) I did this project on the plane, on an empty lottery ticket I picked up at Food Lion. I wish I had thought to work the shaded areas into the design. And I thought of a way to work the feathers in better. But I’m needing a pencil on fewer and fewer projects, which feels like improvement.
