Inktober 2020 Day 11: Disgusting

I used a white posca pen (.7) and kuretake “wink of stella” glitter brush pen for the sparkly sloober. (Newfies have sloober, not slobber. It is a very definitive thing, trust me!) I love these pens, and will link them below.

Inktober 2020 Day 5: Blade

I went with “blade” of grass… but turned it into hair?? Then had trouble with several bits, but anyway… it’s done. 🙂 Such accidentally pouty lips. One slip of the pen will do that! (I’m wondering if she is hiding fangs under there??)

Inktober 2020 Day 3: Bulky

The viviva watercolor on this watercolor paper caused me a little trouble here… it stayed damp longer than I anticipated and ran places I hadn’t planned on. I’m still pretty happy with my Bulky sweater. (and bag and shoes)

Inktober 2020

“Inktober” is a 31 day period where artists around the world try to improve their inking skills (or any art form, really). An artist named Jake Parker started it in 2009 for himself, to improve his inking skills and develop stronger drawing habits. He shared his sketches each day online to hold himself accountable, and used the hashtag “inktober”. Other artists loved the idea, and quickly adopted it themselves. (creative types love a quirky pun) You can go to the website here (https://inktober.com) and read more about it.

Each year Jake posts a list of prompts artists can use if they like. 2020 prompt list:

This year I purchased a special watercolor journal and set of Viviva Colorsheets through Indiegogo, and I am determined to have a completely full journal by the end. Often I find myself starting a new book before I’ve completely filled the old one… I’M FILLING THIS BOOK.

It is fun to see all the different interpretations of the same simple word. Last year was the first year I participated in the whole challenge. I do find in this, and other daily challenges I’ve given myself, that I really do see improvement after a period of daily effort, even if the effort each day is minimal.

(I googled “inktober lettering” and found several lovely samples… and created this page based on one.)

I am several days behind in POSTING, but not in CREATING. So I will go create a post for each day. I hope you will look for them!! Here’s to inking (and watercoloring) over the month of October. Join me! (you can link to your inktober art below, if you like)
