Day 38: Artsnacks supply challenge

I received a little monthly subscription package from Art Snacks, and their challenge is to use all of the supplies in a single piece of art and send them a photo. So here’s what I came up with. Included were a nice pencil and charcoal set, a large black permanent marker, like for posters, a red Zig brush pen (water soluble), and two Stabilo pens, in yellow and light blue. I drew another of my anniversary roses and created a Graffiti Rose. Then I tried a sort of comic book look. And THEN, I used the charcoal alone for a little drawing of pomegranates.

I guess really I’m more the still-life-pomegranate type. But… I enjoyed creating the graffiti rose, and I liked the messiness of it. πŸ™‚

Day 37: sketching

Just a quick sketch of a photo from our walk today on the Nolan Trail, looking up through the trees, in a journal I’ll be sending off to a swap-bot friend. Goodbye, sweet Little Tree Sketch! I’ll miss you!

Notebook paper, uniball deluxe micro pen, copic markers N2 and N4.

Day 34: more watercolor practice

I followed two more tutorials… one offered some basic tree hints (which I expected I’d already know, but didn’t. I don’t know why I thought I WOULD) the other is another typical wheeler scene, and showed me I’m way too impatient and heavy handed. Watercolor takes patience. Bleh. Still, it came out cute. Of the two, which one do you like better?

Day 33 B: Happy Anniversary, Mark!

Painted a nice big oversized card which I MEANT to be suitable for hanging, but forgot my paper is such an odd size and didn’t leave enough space to cut it down. Do they sell 10×14″ frames somewhere, cheap?? Anyone? Oh well. Next time I’ll remember to consider the size. πŸ™‚ You can’t tell here but the gold paint is just the tiniest bit shimmery. Oh I do love those prima watercolor confections paint sets!!

So, happy anniversary, Mark! Thank you for everything you do, and everything you are, and everything you put up with just to spend time with me.

Day 33 A: Groundhogs Day!

I love Groundhogs Day… unusual, huh?? But I do. I don’t know… it’s a weird un-holiday and I love it. So this messy little marigold munching groundhog is for you. Happy Day!

It’s also my wedding anniversary… so watch for day 33 B. πŸ™‚
