A 365 day art project… one drawing a day
Sent a bunch of decorated mail Thurs (only photographed one, but the others were holly leaves) I wish I could show you the address, because it turned out COOL:

Although… I’m still planning to “art” this evening. If possible. 🙂
Yesterday’s ATC’s were unfinished. So today I finished them. 
I like the 2nd two better than the first two, but I like them all, and loved just playing with the Qor paints. (introductory set linked here)
Unfinished… I’ll post them tomorrow, finished.
ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) for a swap I’m doing:
I used my Qor watercolors (and I love this Qor high chroma set as well.) They flow in such an interesting manner. I added salt to the 2nd piece for the added contrast… neither is quite what I was looking for, but I like them. With the Qor, purple dioxazine really feathers out especially beautifully for some reason. I’m not a huge purple fan, but I do use this color often for that reason.
A quick sketch just leaving errors in place. A lot of errors in there. But I think I’ll try more like this. Seeing the mistakes, even without fixing them, surely teaches me something.
Well, it’s SOMEBODY’S art, a pre-drawn postcard, and I colored it in, which took longer than I guessed it would. I use these Marco raffine colored pencils. The set I have linked is 72 pencils for under $14… there’s also this set of 48 AND a pencil pouch, for under $10!!! I have the set of 48, (without a pouch) but for the price I’d get the 72 now. I don’t have more expensive colored pencils so can’t compare them, although I have caran d’ache watercolor pencils which I ADORE, and these feel similar to the caran d’ache to me. (these are NOT watercolor pencils)
I got my set about two years ago, I think, and assume the formulation is the same. The packaging hasn’t changed. Mine are soft and vivid and layer nicely … I REALLY like them, and when I’m tempted to get a more expensive brand I stop myself, remembering how much I actually enjoy these. Anyway, if you decide to try them yourself, it isn’t a huge investment, and I’d like to hear someone else’s opinion. I’d DEFINITELY buy these for older kids or someone just trying out colored pencils (like me) instead of crayola or any less expensive, or even some MORE expensive brands.
I used to find marigolds boring. As an adult, I love them!

It’s just time for some leafy art.
I’m pretty sure my numbers will be off by Dec 31 and I’ll end the year on day 372 or something. Went hiking with Mark and Emmett today and found a super cool toadstool amid the leaves and twiggy mulchy ground cover. If I were a toad, this is the one I would choose to sit on. It was broad and flat and white with just enough shape and shadow to be interesting. I’m sure fairies use it for shelter. I may have seen a little pixie scuttle away.
